Watching Netflix in South Africa is a real alternative to the other services we have access to, now we will look at what the other options are and why Netflix is probably the better option, how to get access in South Africa and why it is so cool.

 

In South Africa you can stream DSTV online, the problem is you do need a Premium DSTV subscription costing around the R700 mark. You can’t just get access to their streaming services for less. That is a big problem as at the end of the day we are looking for real alternatives to paid for TV subscriptions were we can get access to what we want to watch, were we want to watch it for less.

 

You can watch SABC and eTV channels for free, on your tv, but the shows are old, and there are a lot of adds. You have to watch what is on at the moment and quality depends on your signal. This is very old school and not considered an alternative.

 

There are other streaming services launching in South Africa now as well, this includes MTN and DSTV, but they are all more expensive than Netflix with a smaller selection. Most of the time you need to pay for individual movies on top of the subscription, or high individual rental prices.

 

It is best you do your own research on each of the competitors, but be sure to try Netflix, to access Netflix you will have to signup for a service to unblock the site, you can signup to such a cheap and reliable service here.  Remember there is a free trail, so there is no point in giving it a go.

Netflix is amazing because they have a wide range of TV shows and movies you can watch when you want, where you want on whichever device you want.
